- Rock & Sod Installation
- Fertilizing and Weed Control
The installation of hardscapes can be one of the most difficult jobs for a landscape professional, but we have the experience necessary to install rock paths and decorative curbing or rock designs that enhance your yard, to name a few. We can fabricate for you a stone wall, stone patio, or paver patio to your specifications. We can also so an outdoor fireplace or kitchen for you.
Laying sod is a great answer to lawn problems because it can be installed all year-round and will withstand heavy rainfall without erosion damage. Also, is has lower water requirements with an initial watering of just one inch followed by lighter watering for next 2-3 weeks. This is because covered soil retains moisture better than exposed soil.
We first remove the old lawn and/or weeds, if any exist, make sure the ground is level, tilled, and free of rocks. Then we lay the sod rolls in a pattern for the best results.
We can serve you with a great plan that ensures your lawn is in tip-top shape. In the early and late spring, a slow release fertilizer is applied for new growth and improved color, then for drought resistance. A slow release fertilizer nitrogen fertilizer feeds your lawn continuously for 6 weeks, making it grow steadily green. A pre-emergent crabgrass and weed control solution is also applied. In the early or mid summer, more of the same ensures health and maintains drought resistance, and grub and insect control is added. Later in the summer, a special summer formula fertilizer is applied and weed, insect, and crabgrass control as added if necessary. The application of a balanced fertilizer in the early fall promotes a thicker, greener, and healthier lawn. Weed control is applied again, with insect and disease control as needed. Late in the fall, a heavy rate nitrogen fertilizer is a very important application for the development of a hardy root system to withstand the winter months. Weed and disease control is again applied as needed.

- Tree and Bush Pruning & Removal
First, we consider the species of the tree or bush, because some trees grow more quickly than others and respond differently to pruning. Second, we learn the age of the tree or bush. For example, a mature tree start to die off and pruning dead branches becomes a safety issue. Third, the time of year must be determined to, for instance, avoid the spread of disease and to make sure that flower buds are not being removed. The fourth factor is knowing where to make the cut, since plants can’t regenerate tissue and cutting too close or too far away from the trunk or stem will make it harder for the tree or bush to heal, which makes it more susceptible to fungus, disease or insect infestations. Fifth, we work safely. A heavy tree branch can kill in an instant, so it is best that you leave your tree pruning to the professionals.
Removing trees is even more dangerous than pruning. There are other trees, fences, houses, power lines and the neighbors’ properties nearby to consider. A sick, dying or dead tree poses danger - dead limbs or the whole tree can come down in a high wind and fall onto roofs or cars, disease can spread. Even a healthy tree can be a problem if it is growing too close to a power line or a building, or if the roots are interfering with a sewer line or cracking a sidewalk.
After we remove dead or diseased branches or the entire tree or bush, we also clean up and haul away the trash.
